Project Scope
Redevelopment and expansion of the existing L Building into Innovation Village
Total area: ~95,000 ft² across 3 phases
Maker spaces, library commons, Indigenous assembly, SUB addition, rooftop photovoltaics
Mechanical work included:
Installation of HVAC systems (high-efficiency fan coils, air scrubbers, CO₂-modulated outdoor air units)
Underground mechanical piping tied to central energy plant
Lab exhaust systems and localized ventilation
Integration of building automation systems (BMS) for HVAC controls and monitoring
Commissioning coordination with electrical and control teams
While working at J.M.R. Electric Ltd., I was involved in the mechanical construction of Fanshawe College’s Innovation Village (L Building) coordinating with my Senior Project Manager, a $35.4M multi-phase redevelopment project. My work focused on implementing high-efficiency HVAC systems, underground mechanical connections to the central energy plant, and supporting integration of smart BMS controls. This was a fast-paced institutional project that demanded detailed coordination across trades, with a strong focus on sustainability, flexibility, and innovation.
